Somedays we find ourselves getting caught up in worldly tasks and obligations that we leave God on the back burner. Even before we come to this point there is one thing we should always take note of and that is how wonderful and powerful our loving God really is! When we feel weak, we should turn to Him. When we feel defeated, we should kneel before Him. When we feel ashamed, we should cry out to Him. The power of God is something that should never be overlooked.
We Serve a God who is awesome in power and is worthy of all of our praise! Through praise and worship, we can glorify God’s power and strength! Here is a list of my favorite worship songs about the power of God!
7 Amazing Worship Songs About The Power of God
1. “The Lion and The Lamb” – Big Daddy Weave
This first one has become one of my new favorite worship songs! Our worship team just learned this one and it is already one of our favorites to worship to at church. Not only is there power in the lyrics, but the music also drives those lyrics in an awesome way. This song speaks to the truth we see in Isaiah 45, “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear.” When we see Jesus coming on the clouds on that glorious day, we will see Him in true power like never before!
“Our God is the Lion, the Lion of Judah
He’s roaring with power and fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before Him
Our God is the Lamb, the Lamb that was slain
For the sin of the world, His blood breaks the chains
And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb”
Who can stop the Lord Almighty? No one!
2. “Jesus” – Chris Tomlin
Every time this song comes on the radio I can’t help but turn it up and start worshiping! What I love most about this song is it really brings our worship to a complete focus on the power of Jesus Christ. Not only does it get us worshiping about the truth of who Jesus was but also who He still is and what that means for all who call upon His name. In John chapter 14 Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life.” He is our all in all, when we reflect on the truth of all He is His true power shines like never before!
“Messiah, my Savior
There is power in Your name
You’re my rock and, my redeemer
There is power in Your name
In Your name”
There is true power in Jesus name! Which brings me to the next song on our list.
3. “What A Beautiful Name” – Hillsong Worship
This is one of those worship songs that as you close your eyes and lift your hands in true worship, you can’t hold back the tears that begin to run down your cheek. This song displays the fullness of Jesus’ name and power. Not only is His name strong and powerful but its also beautiful and wonderful. I love how the beginning of this song starts by reminding us that He was there from the beginning, “In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.” – John 1:1-2. Author and creator of all things, in control of all He’s created, Name above all names, there is no other name worthy of all of our praise!
“What a powerful Name it is
Nothing can stand against
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus”
Nothing can stand against the power of our Almighty God!
4. “Promised Land” – Crowder
I’ve become a huge Crowder fan over the past couple years. He has such a unique style and all of his songs are awesome songs to worship to. There is no limit to the power of our God and this song reminds us of just that. We all come from different pasts and we all have different stories but the truth remains the same for us all… we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We all need a savior who has the power and authority to not just fix our mistakes but to make us completely new and restored. That power is only available through Jesus Christ our Lord and savior!
“Who has the power to part the sea?
Who has the power to rescue me?
Who has the power to save my soul?
Oh, my sweet Lord”
Who has the power? Jesus Christ and that same power can live in us.
5. “The Same Power” – Jeremy Camp
This song has so many awesome truths about the power of God. The greatest truth found in this song is how that power lives in all who believe! “and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.” – Ephesians 1:19-21. No power of darkness, no weapon prevails, we stand here in victory! A victory that came through the cross when Jesus laid down His life for our sins and rose from the grave to conquer death!
“The same power that rose Jesus from the grave
The same power that commands the dead to wake
Lives in us”
We need to shine the light of this power within us where ever we go so that this victory and power can break through the darkness of the lives we meet in Jesus name!
6. “Our God” – Chris Tomlin
Our lives are often chaotic and full of distractions, this song allows our focus to come back to the only thing that matters, Jesus. “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” – Luke 10:41-42. As Mary sat at the feet of Jesus in Luke chapter 10 we see a truth that remains as important today as it did when Jesus shared it with Martha, we can get really caught up in the world around us, which only brings stress and worry, but when we bring our focus to the only thing that truly matters, all of that worry and stress falls away at the feet of Jesus.
“Our God is greater, our God is stronger
God You are higher than any other
Our God is Healer, awesome in power
Our God, Our God”
Our God is truly higher than any other! None can compare! It’s time to worship and get back to the heart of what matters most!
7. “Because He Lives” – Matt Maher
I put this song last because I wanted us to finish up with what is the greatest truth about the power of our God, He lives! This is what separates the Almighty God from the god’s of the world, our God is alive and reigns with power! Not only does He live but He has given us all an opportunity to turn toward Him and allow Him to live within us! The Almighty God of the universe, author, and creator of all things, who knew you before you were born, loves you and wants to have a deep, intimate relationship with you. He wants to break you free from the chains of bondage and give you an abundant life! “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” – John 10:10.
“Because He lives
I can face tomorrow
Because He lives
Every fear is gone
I know He holds my life my future in His hands”
Because He lives we too can truly live!
The same power that rose Jesus from the grave is available to us and has the ability to bring us through any difficult time in our lives. Through prayer, meditation on the word of God, and through worship, we can experience the amazing power of God!
