I never grow tired of these verses, some of them sat on my desk for months and always grounded me when I felt overwhelmed or my job seemed like it was meaningless.

There are so many more verses that I enjoy and have learned a great deal from while reading my bible, but these particular ones stuck out to me at the specific time in my life when I needed them the most.

I think of each verse of the bible as a trail of breadcrumbs, each time you come across a new trail of crumbs, I feel you are reading it at that very moment for a reason. God has intended you to come across each trail to be simply drawn closer to him and to be taken down a new path each time.

7 Bible Verses that Formed my Faith

1. God is and has Always Been There For Me

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

When I would feel discouraged, or if something was just not working out the way I pictured, I would think of this verse. I would remind myself that even at the lows and the highs, God is and has always been there for and with me.

2. We Can Only Live for Today

“Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.”Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that”. James 4: 13-15

It allowed me to be able to partake in more church events and volunteer with my church’s food pantry, which I loved doing and had to give up due to my last job. It made me realize that we can only live for today and glorify God while we are here.

3. Easy and Light

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

I have come across this verse in both my reading but also in a worship song that I just fell in love with. The song is by Will Reagan & United Pursuit and it is called Take a Moment, you can find this song for free on Amazon music or on YouTube.

When I think of this verses and the lines from the song, the words easy and light are two words I would describe the feeling I get when meditating on the verse and listening to the song. This verse helps me to remove whatever that has been weighing me down and replaced it with a lighter one.

4. The Need for the Holy Spirit

“Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:37-38

Girl underwater picture.I love this verse because it describes the need for the Holy Spirit that each of us yearn or thirst for. It also describes how those who believe in Jesus have the Holy Spirit within them and we do believe that Jesus is the way, the truth, and life that flows through us. It is how I would describe coming to Christ, being thirsty and wilted then being filled with fresh, living water. In a sense, you can picture something coming back to life!

5. Remove our Worldly Ways & Make Room for Godly Ones

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

This verse is so insightful and just gives you a moment of clarity. It’s telling us to open up our eyes to the world and our hearts to the Lord. We so often get stuck in the ways of the world that we lose sight of what is meaningful and brings true joy to our lives. This Romans verse speaks volumes in just two sentences. For us to remove our worldly ways and to make room for the Godly ones that were intended to be there all along!

6. The Truth

“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8: 31-32

I often grasp keywords and focus on the following reading, in this verse, it is the words truth and set you free that really catch my eye.

The feeling that comes from this verse is such an overwhelming feeling! The moment you surrender yourself to Jesus is the most freeing moment I think I will ever experience.

And the want to study, read and teach others about Jesus is also something that brings indescribable elation.

7. For the Lows and the Highs

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29: 11-13

And last but not least, my very first Bible verse that I felt moved by. I came across this verse when I felt defeated. I felt like nothing was going to become of myself because of where I was at that very moment. Now I know we have lows and highs in our lives because the lows are truly the areas when we discover the most amazing things!Girl praising God picture.

After reading this verse and digesting what God was revealing to me, I knew even at the time when I felt my life was upside down and didn’t know where to start, it was still all apart of God’s plan. With knowing that I felt revived. Because for the first time I did not feel that I was in control of my future, God was.

I continue to read scripture daily and each day God has an opportunity to teach me something I may of never known unless I had read into His Word.

It also gives me time to focus on God before I write each day, which I feel is important and this has gained more importance each day I progress in my journey. God is waiting to Him reveal small trails of wisdom to you and if you even read for 20 minutes a day, I am sure you will be surprised in what He has to say!

Others, like myself, are older and have been awakened at last. Psalm 34:8. O taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in him. Wishing you many blessings and happy trails.
