7 Uplifting Worship Songs About The Resurrection

Not only did the word become flesh to die for our sins on the cross, He rose from the grave and conquered death on the third day! This victory over death is something that should be celebrated every day and what better way to celebrate than with worship!

“And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.” – 1 Corinthians 15:17

It’s amazing how much more attention we give to Christmas compared to how much we give to Easter. Don’t get me wrong Christmas is amazing and the birth of our Savior into the world is something we should definitely celebrate.

I’m just saying that we as Christians should be celebrating Easter Sunday with as much enthusiasm, if not more than we have for Christmas. Yet for most, Easter is reduced down to candy-filled baskets and fluffy white bunnies.

Our faith and hope are based solely on the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Not only did Jesus conquer death and the grave, He paved the way for us to follow Him into eternity becoming the firstfruits of Heaven.

This Easter lets take back the celebration of our Lord and Savior by celebrating the true reason for this season, the resurrection! Here are 7 uplifting worship songs about the resurrection.

7 Uplifting Worship Songs About The Resurrection

1. Overcome – Elevation Worship

This has become one of my new favorite worship songs. The lyrics are so powerful and really gets my heart focus off the world and onto heaven.

We need to remember that when Jesus overcame the grave, He overcame death. When we believe in Him we too can overcome death and have eternal life!

Our church is doing this song on Easter Sunday this year and I am beyond excited. The music just drives the song in such a way that you can’t help but lift your arms and proclaim the truth found in the lyrics. “For the risen one has overcome!”

2. Resurrecting – Elevation Worship

This is another one of my favorite songs and even though it is by the same worship team as the first I’m still going to put them back to back because they are both such different songs.

I have seen elevation worship live twice now and each time was an awesome worship experience. This song specifically was amazing live and hearing the voices of hundreds praising the Lord with lyrics like “your name is victory, all praise will rise to Christ our king!”

My favorite lyric in this song is “by your spirit I will rise from the ashes of defeat, the resurrected king is resurrecting me. In your name I come alive, to declare your victory, the resurrected king is resurrecting me!”

3. Forever – Kari Jobe

This song so beautifully depicts the love of our Savior, His death on the cross for our sins, and the power that rose Him from the grave.

As this song builds towards the resurrection, the music builds with it as it proclaims “Forever He is glorified, forever He is lifted high, forever He is risen, He is alive He is alive!” Amen!

The beauty of these lyrics mixed with the power of Kari Jobe’s voice makes this easily one of my favorite worship songs about the resurrection!

4. Jesus Son of God – Brandon Heath

This song is an awesome reminder of who Jesus was and is. He lived a perfect life to become a sacrifice, pleasing and acceptable to God for the atonement of our sins.

When I think of what it could have been like to be there at the crucifixion, to see Jesus on that cross seemingly defeated, and then to think of what it must have been like to see Him after He rose from the grave, it gives me chills.

The son of God gave up His life for us sinners. “A love like this the world has never known.”

5. Glorious Day – Casting Crowns

My favorite aspect of this song is how awesomely it states the finishing work of Jesus in the song’s chorus. “Living He loved me, dying He saved me, buried He carried my sins far away, rising He justified freely forever one day He is coming oh glorious day.”

Casting Crowns is on my favorite bands, they have such a beautiful mix of powerful lyrics, great vocals, and powerful music. There’s a lot of Christians artists out there, but casting crowns really allow you to enjoy the music but also to get into an awesome state of worship.

This is a song everyone should have on their list of favorite worship songs because not only does it allow us to give praise for the resurrection, but also for His life, the cross, and His return!

6. Resurrecting Power – Chris Tomlin

This is one of the newest songs by Chris Tomlin and it is already one of my favorites. This song really puts us into a state of reflection on the power of the resurrection.

It’s important to remember that the same power that raised Jesus from the grave is the same spirit that lives in us! When we worship and reflect on this truth, it really changes how we see our lives and the freedom we have through faith in Him.

This freedom is life-giving and changes every aspect of our lives from the inside out. “Now I have resurrection power living on the inside Jesus you have given us freedom!”

7. Jesus Paid It All – Kristian Stanfill

This song is one that can be appreciated by all ages and generations. It still has the feel of a hymn with the added guitars that really picks up the chorus to a great point of celebration.

My favorite aspect of this song is how it reminds us that He paid our debt and we owe Him everything. We have been set free from sin and have eternal life when we turn to Him.

When Jesus was on the cross He said “it is finished” meaning the debt is paid in full. Life in Him is true freedom from the debt of sin and we should lift our voices to praise His Holy name!

As Christians, the resurrection of Christ from the dead is the most important part of our faith. We should be celebrating this life-giving miracle through worship and praise.

This Easter we should take the time to pray and worship His name through some of these great worship songs to set our hearts on the true reason for celebration, the resurrection!
